What is your definition of the "deep state?”
Do you believe that it exists in our country? If so, who belongs to it and what are its goals?
Does it persist no matter who is in power? If so, what allows it to survive?
Do you personally know anyone who is part of the deep state? If so, what do they do in its service?
When Trump speaks about the deep state, does he use the term as a catch-all for everybody he doesn't like
doing anything he doesn't like? If not, what exactly does he mean by it?
Are you familiar with the concept of the unitary executive? Do you think that is what
The Constitution describes or implies for the office of the president?
Does it essentially mean that once he's elected by the people he can do whatever he wants?
Are you familiar with certain actions that Trump has taken to increase his power as president? If so, which of these if any distress you the most and why:
*Freezing funds already allocated by Congress.
*Shutting down or eviscerating agencies established by law.
*Weakening the labor rights of government employees, and firing thousands of government employees
without cause.
*Shifting federal employees at the GS (General Services) level, who are protected from arbitrary termination,
to the schedule F designation, which allows them to be hired and/or fired for political reasons.
*Instructing the department of justice to go after his personal and political enemies.
*Moving to centralize citizens’ personal data so it can easily be accessed and used through AI.
Are you aware that all these actions, while they seem minor, were actions taken by both
Hitler and Stalin to turn their nations into dictatorships? Do you believe that if things proceed along these lines, the United States could be become a dictatorship? If so, why?
If not, why not?
The actions that Trump and Musk are taking seem to be weakening the government and strengthening predatory corporations. Among these actions is the gutting of oversight and protections. Do you believe that individual states can step in and take over these functions effectively? If yes, how?
If not, how might they be stopped?
There has been a lot of demonization of Trump supporters by the Left. What is your understanding of
why people voted for Trump and support his policies?
If you oppose his policies, how do you think you might change their minds?
Do you think Trump can shut down or control all the major media? How would he be able to go about doing this?
How might he be stopped?
Trump is by law the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, but everyone serving in the military
swears an oath of loyalty to the United States Constitution, not to the president. We know that
one general refused to follow his orders to shoot at the legs of protesters. Do you think this resistance
will continue if Trump tries to turn the military against the civilian population?
The bullying of the weak by the strong seems to be a theme in the Trump administration, whether it is internally or in foreign policy. To whom among our citizenry do you think this appeals and why?
